Hello everyone! My name is Sarah and I'm so excited to share my story of starting a business with all of you. I've been in the beauty industry for over 5 years now and it's been an amazing journey. It hasn't always been easy, though. In this blog post, I'm going to share some of my experiences from my first year as a business owner. 

SG Beauty Company – The Beginning 

I started my own business called SG Beauty Company in 2022. It was located in Melbourne, Florida in a cute little storefront. At first, everything seemed perfect until things started to unravel very quickly! Within the first few months, we had a homeless man running after me in the parking lot. I changed my hours from 9-5 afterwards. Shortly after, a drug testing center opened up right down the hall!  As if that wasn't enough, our clients were using the same bathroom! Needless to say, it wasn't exactly what I had envisioned when I decided to start my own business. 

Adapting & Learning  

As you can imagine, things weren't great at SG Beauty Company and I was really struggling with how to move forward. Rather than just giving up on my dream or settling for something I wasn’t happy with, I decided to take a step back and focus on making things better. During this period of time, I worked with mentors and business coaches who helped me stay focused on reaching my goals despite all of the setbacks that were happening around me.  This was one of the best decisions that I ever made because it allowed me to do some behind-the-scenes work while still running my business (even if there were more downs than ups).  It also gave me the opportunity to explore other ways that I could make SG Beauty Company successful, which ultimately led me to rebranding and transitioning into mobile beauty services instead.  

Beachless Bronze –The Present & Future

After going through all these struggles at SG Beauty Company, I decided it was time for a change. That’s why in 2022-2023, we’ve been rebranding our company as Beachless Bronze and moved exclusively into mobile beauty services! We now travel around providing sunless tanning sessions to our clients at their convenience! It has been such an incredible experience being able to provide them with quality services without having any physical location for them to visit! In addition, our client base has grown exponentially since we switched over from SG Beauty Company! We are so thankful for all of our loyal customers who have stuck by us throughout this entire process!  To top it off, we recently launched a podcast called Grow With Me Beauty where we discuss real life experiences in beauty entrepreneurship as well as offering courses with topics related to beauty professionals interested in the sunless industry! Our main mission is just creating a safe environment where others can learn from each other’s experiences while also growing their businesses together!  

It feels amazing seeing how far SG Beauty Company evolved in just one year! From struggling with safety issues at a storefront location to becoming successful by taking advantage of mobile opportunities – there really is no limit if you set your mind (and your heart) onto something bigger than yourself. Going through this experience has taught me that no matter what curve balls life throws your way, staying focused on your goals can be incredibly rewarding in the end. If you’re feeling lost or overwhelmed starting out – take some time away from customers or clients and focus on refining your brand image or building out an online presence – trust me it will be worth it in the long run!
